Description
Michael the Brave (1558 - August 9, 1601) was ban of the city of Craiova, then the Prince of Wallachia (1593-1601), of Transylvania (1599-1600), and of Moldavia (1600). He united the three principalities under a single rule for a short period of time.
Among the projects discovered in the Collection of the BNR Press one finds that in 1940 five medallions were proposed to replace the efigy of Charles the 2nd on existing bills: Traian & Decebal, Michael the Brave, Mihai Eminescu and king Michael. One of these would also be used for a proposed bill of 250 lei. However, in the end, none of these projects saw production.
