Description
Bascovele Monastery
Bascovele Monastery was built in 1695 by Serban Cantacuzino. After the big earthquake from 1838, the monastery church was badly affected and was rebuilt in 1843. It is transformed in parohial church in 1962. Bascovele Monastery was reopened in 1991.
During communism period, the monastery and its surroundings were used to shelter ... actually, I think it is better to visit the place in order to discover what about. It is too sad to be said in words.
The monastery is inside the complex court, it is not the small church near the complex entrance. Be careful how you approach if you want to visit. Anyway, my recommendation is to visit the monastery also.
I used the GPS of two smartphones so coordinates might not be 100% accurate. Please post new coordinates if necessary.
