Description EN RO

This cache promotes cycling in the area and is located in Arges Riverside Park. You can pedal on the riverside, on a specially designed track for bicycles, choosing the appropriate path: greater than 2.7 km (here) or less than 1.9 km.

The park is recently landscaped and contains also: karts , a tennis court / football / basketball , a summer theater, a children playground, a mini fountain. You can relax on the benches of the Arges Riverside and admiring the view, you can surprise a few swans floating on the river.

In Arges, before 1940, bicycles were registered

The county archives has revealed that before 1940 bikes were registered with plate numbers and traded with buying or selling acts.

Piteşti Police official acts, dated December 31, 1939, state that 680 bikes were registered into circulation ( Ex : bike Derbo Sorio bran, N. 304 366 ). In addition, based on the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, it was necessary to obtain a license for the bike. The bike was considered as a vehicle and the rider, a driver. The proof is shown in the picture below: a certificate released to cyclists ( Aiud city police ).

Inclination to nature protection was common and promoted in those days. Various companies or institutions provide bicycles for work to the employees and also pay taxes for bicycles. There are people who could be exempt from tax: public guards, postmen or health inspectors.

Bicycles owners were required to pay a 100 lei fee in order to use a bicycle and not all of them afford a new bike, as seen from the large number of second sale documents. Most bikes were imported, and the most common marks were Jean Louvier, Wanderer, Opel, Neumann, Apollo and Olympia. Prices at that time ranged between 3,300 and 5,000 lei.
