Description
TARNITA LAKE
Is a reservoir located on Somesul Rece Valley in Gilau Mountains. It was formed behind a concrete, arch shaped dam, built in 1974, with a height of 97 m, with a crest length of 237 m, which allows a flow of 850 cubic meters/s. It is one of the most visited areas in the county, the lake impressing with its 215 ha surface, length of 8 km and a depth of 70 m. The lake main-purpose is to produce electricity, but it is also an important entertainment place, for fishing and boating, tourists having to travel a distance of only 27 km from Cluj until the lake dam.
