FANTANELE RESORT is situated at 1050 m altitude, on the shore of the omonim lake, in Cluj county, between Vladeasa and Gilau Mountains.
Has no official status of locality, being considered only a resort of local interest.
Belis lake was fitted out over the old Belis village, which was flooded. In periods of drought when the water level decreases, the lake rises the spire of a church. In the lake are organized divings by divers from Cluj. The most interesting expeditions are those that lead to the flooded village, where the inside of the church is kept exactly as it was left 50 years ago, when it began the filling of the lake, the place seems astonished by the spell of an evil magician.
Often is incorrectly called Belis-Fantanele or Fantanele-Belis, to avoid the confusion with other places allso called ... Fantanele.
Although close to Belis, administratively belongs to commune Rasca.
Is sought for rest and relaxation, for the fresh mountain air and in winter, for skiing.
