vad, vaduri (substantiv neutru)

    1. Loc în albia unui râu, unde apa e puțin adâncă, permițând trecerea prin apă de pe un mal pe altul. 

Din vremuri vechi cel mai uşor loc de a traversa un râu a fost vadul.

Acolo unde nu sunt poduri, vadul rămâne şi astăzi locul optim pentru a traversa râurile.
