"Water tower of art from Pantelimon" is inside the Romania Drapery and is the first industrial construction in Bucharest that still performs it's original function, that is to increase water pressure in the pipes supplying the area..
In 2012 the Watertower was the subject of an art contest after which it got painted with green curtains on it's upper part (by the romanian lebanese artist Daniel Georges). The painting was chosen by vote by residents of Bucharest and unveiled on New Year's Eve 2013.
During the summer of 2013 "Make a Point" built the helical staircase around the tower that allows visitation on the outside (a spectacular panorama of Bucharest from 30m above ground) and also the inside as an atypical art exhibit.
The staircase is a romanian-spanish collaboration designed by architects Miruna Stoicescu and Santos e Garcia, built by romanian workers from Craiova under the supervision of a spanish engineer. It has 170 steps and according to the founders it is a unique construction in Romania.
The tower may be visited only with prior appointment. Appointments can be made here: point@makeapoint.ro
A project by "Make a Point" and financed by ING Bank Romania.
