Situated on Calea Grivitei, no.137, the cinema was inaugurated in 1930 and named after the italian engineer and physicist Guglielmo Marconi. During the communist regime it was rebranded Alexander Popov, then Dacia.
The building was returned to it's legal pre-communist era owners in 2006. Today it is abandoned, like many old buildings in the city, left as a ruin, until one day it may collapse completely, when the terrain under it may be reused.
